A very fine and most attractive Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Ironstone Indented Cabinet Plate by John Davenport of Longport, Staffordshire 1785 - 1835 }. Colourfully decorated in an Imari pattern heightened with superb gilding, this piece bears on the reverse the rarely seen brown printed Maker's Mark of an anchor set beneath a ribbon bearing the the word DAVENPORT. A fine and rare Early 20th Century Antique English Edwardian Royal Doulton Porcelain Cabinet Plate with heavily gilded border, "Peonies" painted by Harry Piper and produced for Tiffany & Company of New York, circa 1902. The obverse bearing the signature of the artist, viz. " H. Piper" , active at Royal Doulton from 1892 - 1914 , and highly regarded as a specialist painter of fruit and flower subjects. The reverse with the Royal Doulton printed backstamp as used from 1902 - 1922, this in puce, above TIFFANY & COMPANY NEW YORK, the title, "Peonies" painted in black alongside the code RA2673c and the pattern number c9732, { 1900 - 1901 }, all this plus indistinct impressed Registration Number, together with the impressed date code 1-02 for January 1902, the year in which Louis Comfort Tiffany became the company's first official Director of Design. A fine Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Indented Pottery Plate, printed in a medium blue with the "Ancient Rome" pattern. unmarked, but probably produced by Thomas and John Carey { 1823 - 42 }, at their Anchor Works, Lane End, Staffordshire. A dish decorated with this pattern and bearing an impressed mark, "CAREY & SONS", is illustrated by Coysh & Henrywood in "The Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery : 1780 - 1880, Volume II.
