A fine Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Indented Pottery Plate, printed in a medium blue with the "Ancient Rome" pattern. unmarked, but probably produced by Thomas and John Carey { 1823 - 42 }, at their Anchor Works, Lane End, Staffordshire. A dish decorated with this pattern and bearing an impressed mark, "CAREY & SONS", is illustrated by Coysh & Henrywood in "The Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery : 1780 - 1880, Volume II.
